One Response to Out-of-state passengers arriving in Alaska must now self-quarantine

“…But for the out-of-state passengers, they have to fill out that travel declaration form.”
    .
What happens if Alaskan-Americans refuse, in the absence of a habeas corpus suspension or a warrant, to fill out their travel declaration form, refuse to tell The State where they’ve been or what they’ve done?
    .
How will The State verify their alibis?
    .
Will they be arbitrarily imprisoned while The State checks their movement histories; while The State releases convicted criminals because prisons might be too dangerous for them?
    .
How will self-quarantine compliance be verified? By warrantless searches? By warrantless cell-phone tracking? By ankle-bracelet monitoring? By nosy-neighbor reports? By police checkpoints? By warrantless credit-card activity monitoring?
    .
What’ll happen when productive Alaskan-Americans decide they’ve had enough rehearsal in post-Constitutional dictatorship and refuse en masse to self-quarantine?
    .
What’s next, internment camps? A WWII redux of Japanese-American internment, only this time it’s locking up Alaskan Americans for the good of The State?
    .
This exercise in amateur dictatorship may well be worth rethinking as an example of the cure being far worse than the ailment.
