A total Giessel
What do you call somebody who simply will not do as they promised? The urbandictionary.com has the perfect term.
A Giessel. As in Sen. Cathy Giessel.
Giessel, the Alaska Senate president, promised – even campaigned – to fight tooth and nail to the death to protect Alaskans’ Permanent Fund dividend. Now, the Anchorage Republican is out front in a charge mounted by a GOP-Democrat cabal to slash the dividend amount and reduce the entire program to political whim rather than follow a very clear 1982 law that sets out how the payout is to be calculated.
In short, she has gone from protecting the full Permanent Fund dividend to driving nails in its coffin, all to ensure Alaska’s bloated government has more to spend.
We are grateful to the reader in New Zealand who pointed out the Urban Dictionary definition, which holds that somebody who would flip-flop on an issue, somebody who will not do as promised, is a Giessel. They will say whatever they must to land a job or position of power, but will not keep the promise.
Sen. Cathy Giessel, much to Alaskans’ distaste, turns out to be a total Giessel.
