Respect for the law
Scofflaws, more than 3,000 of them, owe the city of Anchorage a very tidy sum – more than $6 million.
Remarkably, KTUU reports the top 50 violators include a man with 77 outstanding tickets as of April 11. All in the top 50 have at least 25 tickets, and three individuals owe more than $10,000 each.
It seems many in Anchorage have little respect for the law. That should come as no surprise, we suppose. The Legislature and our past governor flouted the law with impunity when it came your Permanent Fund dividend checks – and lawmakers are about to try to do it again.
Respect for the law should begin at the top.
