Our ‘Gun Violence Disease’ problem
The president of the 220,000-member American Medical Association wants the government to fix the nation’s Gun Violence Disease.
David Barbe says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should start treating gun violence as a public health menace, likening guns to a curable disease – and setting the stage for a federal “cure” for the Second Amendment, writes Cheryl K. Chumley, a Washington Times opinion editor.
At the AMA’s annual soiree´ in Chicago, Barbe called on members to petition for resolutions to “address this devastating crisis of our time” and for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to begin epidemiological research on gun-related violence.
Such research, of course, is now thankfully banned by federal law. Why? Because of the “potential for leftist-leaning medical pros within the agency to push anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment, pro-gun control science — or, so-called science, as the case may be,” as Chumley so correctly puts it.
But Barbe says if politicians are not going to act, doctors, by golly, must.
All of that should frighten gun owners.
“Allowing the CDC an open door to analyze the medical causes of gun violence is like setting Al Gore in charge of climate science,” Chumley writes. “The end results will be all about regulation, control and the confiscation of personal, individual rights.”
She is exactly right. The left is not going to stop at anything until it can gut the Second Amendment and it would be more than happy to have “science” on its side.
Make no mistake. The left’s avowed aim is to end private gun ownership. It will enlist anybody or anything in that quest. In unguarded moments, leftists are very clear about their intentions.
They have made startling gains in blue states such as California. Allowing them to conduct phony government research to bolster efforts to disarm Americans simply cannot be allowed to happen.
